Intelligent Alerts for OpenEdge, delivered to your Apple Watch

It's been a busy year in the DataPA offices. We've added collaboration and intelligent alerts to our dashboards, made the charts clearer and more responsive and added a whole bunch of gauge objects. We've also worked hard on our analytics engine so it will now filter and drill into millions of rows in a fraction of a second and supports the Pacific AppServer, added support for Easyl so customers can blend on premise and cloud data and added support for hidden system tables so our customers can now have live database performance dashboards on their mobile devices.

We thought this lot might be enough to keep our developers out of trouble. We were wrong. Ever dazzled by shiny new toys (and they don’t come much shinier) one of them has sneaked out and ordered an Apple Watch (thankfully not the gold one). I’ve discussed previously in this blog how Intelligent Alerts combined with wearable tech offers real disruptive change for any industry, whether it’s delivering agile responses to large orders in a distribution process or rapid reaction to potential issues in IT service provision. So at this years PUG Challenge conference in June, we thought we’d take the opportunity to demonstrate how something as mundane as database monitoring can be revolutionized with our shiny new toy.

If you’ll be there, make sure you drop by our stand or come along to our presentation and see our superb live demonstration of DataPA OpenAnalytics combining access to database performance data and intelligent alerts delivered to mobile devices and the Apple Watch to thwart an attempted hack. If you’re not, just get in touch and we’d happily give you an online demo.
